Winter Show Jumping Qualifierfor Area 6 & 11
For the BRC Winter Championships
Organised by HWRC & TVRC at Berkshire College of Agriculture
SATURDAY 4th MARCH 2023
Rules
70, 80cm (novice) & 90 cm Competition is for teams of 4 Seniors or 4 Juniors to jump two rounds each, the best three
scores in each round to count. This is also open to individuals. Please check for any change of rules before the
competition as 2023 handbook may apply.
100 & 110 Competition is for teams of any combination of seniors/juniors & individuals to jump two rounds each, the best
three scores in each round to count. Please check for any change of rules before the competition as 2023 handbook may
apply.
Numbers should be printed by competitors and worn in number bibs please.
We will endeavour to fit in extra course walks throughout the day if time permits.
PLEASE SEE CURRENT BRC HANDBOOK FOR ELIGIBILITY RULES & CHECK RECENT UPDATES.
Please note that if we have to limit entries, then there may be some balloting required (possibly for those riding
in more than 1 class) – see current rules regarding this.
The order of jumping will be all 4 team members to jump one after the other. We find this is good for team
morale and easier for Team Managers & supporters on the day.
Competitors eliminated in Round 1 cannot jump Round 2 unless it was a technical elimination. Individuals from a team
eliminated in Round 1, who were not themselves eliminated, can continue to Round 2 as individuals.
In the event of ties of teams and individuals who finish on the same number of faults after two rounds, this will be resolved
using the time taken for the WHOLE of the second round.
This competition will run under British Riding Club Rules. It is important that all competitors are aware of the
rules relating to this competition – please see the current BRC Rule Book and also the BRC Rule Amendments
and Changes Document which can be found at the link below: BRC Handbook | The British Horse Society
(bhs.org.uk)
All hats must have a visible UP TO DATE hat tag in place (BRC/PC/BE approval) before they are used for
warming up and competing, to show that it meets the current safety standards. There will be a trained official
available on the day to do this for you if your hat does not currently have one. PLEASE NOTE NEW COLOUR
TAGS APPLY FROM 1.01.2023
Vaccination certificates and /or passports are to be submitted to your Team Managers at least one week prior to the
competition date for pre-approval. Your horse must have up to date influenza vaccinations in line with rule G7 in the
current BRC handbook (please note that if you have had to change dates due to lack of vaccine then your passport must
be signed to this effect by a veterinary surgeon and next year you must go back to original vaccination date as per BRC
rules.) These may be spot checked during the day and any errors may lead to disqualification. There is also a checking
device on the BRC website, but if you are unsure, please call BRC on 02476 840518.
As of 1 October 2020, it was compulsory for all horses to be microchipped. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure the
horse is chipped and it is traceable.
The order of clubs will be drawn and advised to the Team Manager. Times will be put on the HWRC website:
http://hwrc.org.uk/times and also on the Area 6 Facebook page by Wednesday 1st March 2023.
Don’t forget:
Eligibility for all classes can be found in the current BRC Handbook. Eligibility will be taken from the Friday
before the qualifier. All competitors must be a member and be on the BRC Database by midday the Friday before
the qualifier. Anyone failing to meet the eligibility criteria will be disqualified and informed by BRC HQ when the
results are processed.
This competition will run under BRC Rules, anyone in attendance will be bound by the BRC Code of Conduct. It is
important that all competitors are aware of the rules relating to this competition – please see the current BRC Handbook
and also the BRC Rule Amendments and Changes Document which can be found at the link below: BRC Handbook |
