TREC is a sport intended to test the skills of a horse and rider in planning and executing a long distance ride in unfamiliar country. Experience the adventure of TREC under the excellent tutoring of Karen Barker and assisted by Rachael Finch.
Training provides an opportunity to practise a range of obstacles either in hand or ridden, in small groups. Useful for riders with novice or spooky horses and great fun if you want to have a go at something a bit different. Do as much or as little as you want – there is no pressure to tackle any obstacle you are not happy about. For potential ‘treccies’, the instructors will explain how to achieve the maximum points for each obstacle and give you tips on how to improve your performance or overcome problems. It is suitable for all ages and abilities.
We will have 10 obstacles for you to try, each will be explained in full before you start that obstacle and at the end of your session we will be running a mini informal competition (please let us know on the day if you do not wish to take part) so you can attempt obstacles under competition rules. Karen will score the competition and provide you with feedback afterwards.
Maximum of 16 spaces available
Sessions will be in groups of 4, with 2 running concurrently with each of the instructors.
We will split groups into in-hand and ridden, and then ridden (where possible) into complete beginner and previous knowledge/experience.
