To be held at Abbey Farm Dressage, Jacks Lane, Turvey, Bedfordshire MK43 8DH in their stunning 20 x 60 Timber Framed Indoor Arena with a Martin Collins waxed fibre surface.

John Mears BHSII and daughter Hannah Mears run Freestyle Dressage to Music and combine their knowledge and skill to help riders produce freestyle routines from the initial assessment of the combinations strengths and style, through choreography and music sourcing to performance and competition day

During the session: John explains what freestyle dressage to music is. Shows how to work out horses beats per minute (bpm) for each pace and he determines the bpm for each horse on the session. He explains how to select the right music and what impact the wrong music can have. Explains music licensing for dressage to music including British Dressage requirements. John will select one piece of trot music for each horse and rider (if time allows we also do music for walk and canter). Have the riders design a simple trot only floor plan. The session ends with each rider riding their floor plan to the trot music we selected earlier in the session. If riders are interested in going further then John can talk to you individually about how he would create a music track for you to go out and compete.

These taster sessions are aimed at people who have never done DTM, but John is happy to also have people who have done music before and perhaps want to update their music routine..

Each session is 1.5 hours for a maximum of 4 riders.

The sessions are all ridden. There is an amount of standing around but the riders remain mounted. They create a simple floor plan to be ridden in trot which they will then ride while the music selected for their horse earlier is being played. This gives them an understanding of creating a freestyle floor plan and how they can make up movements. They will leave with their horses Beats Per Minute for walk, trot and canter. And details of the track(s) we selected for them for the session. And hopefully a better understanding of DTM and how they can take it forward if it is something they would like to take further.
