Open and Championship Show 2021
You can only enter a Championship class if you have qualified at an earlier show during
2021 and can only enter at the level you qualified at—so, if you qualified in Prelim
Restricted you can enter the Prelim Restricted Championship class but not any other
Championship class unless you qualified in that as well.
The criteria for qualifying for the Championship classes is as follows:
• Intro to Elementary: Rider must have achieved 60% or more at any previous
(including Virtual) show held during 2021;
• Medium & Advanced Medium: Rider must have been placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd at any
previous (including Virtual) show held during 2021.
• Warm up classes are available to everyone to enter as well.
• Music Freestyle classes will be open to ALL (no need to qualify), and we will present
a Championship Ribbon to highest percentage of the day.
• Callers and whips will be allowed in all classes.
PLEASE NOTE that if you enter the Open class and the Championship class doing the
same test the second test you ride will have to be ridden HC.
Dressage to Music Information
• Each test has compulsory technical elements and details can be found on test
sheets obtained from British Dressage.
• On the day of the show the compettors must bring a CD of their music to the show secretary at least 15 minutes prior to their test, labelled with their name and number. If they have created the CD on a computer they must check that it can play on a CD player rather than a laptop
Restricted and Open Sections/ Numbers
Each competitor is required to specify whether they are Restricted or Open in each class. Failure to do this means they will automatically be entered in the Open section.
This requirement is designed to encourage compettors to step up a level and promote genuine competition.
Are you restricted or open?
The IDG shows are intended to help riders of all abilities and experience. Within our classes we have Restricted and Open sections.
The purpose of the Restricted sections is to give inexperienced riders a level of competition that allows them to feel comfortable competing with others of the same level.
We ask that riders should self regulate and not compete at Restricted if they have;
• Ridden or competed 2 levels above that of the class entered, in any competition, RC, PC or BD.
Also the corresponding levels at BE.
• Won any of the IDG League Championships at the level entered.
• Won BD points at the level or above. For BE the rider should have no points.
• Horse experience is not relevant.
Open classes are for more experienced riders to compete young/inexperienced horses, as well as
more established combinations.
Numbers
You will be given a competitor number with your time. Please note that you will need to display that
on either your horse’s bridle or saddlecloth whilst in the warm up and competition arenas. It is your
responsibility to provide your own number which can be obtained from saddlers and on-line. There
will be a few sets available for use at the show for a £5 deposit.
