Stable and straw bedding is included in the cost. Bring short feed and hay. You can buy hay and haylage from Poplar at a cost of £1 or £1.50 per net, settle your bill at the end of camp and pay direct to Poplar. Any other type of bedding must be provided by yourself. It is advisable to bring your own wheel barrow and tools ect.
Bed and breakfast is available, please book directly with Poplar. Horseboxes, tents, caravans etc. in the camp field. Electric hook up is available at £10 per night there are only 4 available, - so is on a first booked first served basis. Please pay Poplar direct for this.
There is a shower for our use free of charge, toilet, and electric sockets. A freezer is usually available for our use and there is a local shop that sells almost everything. Please remember that if you pitch a tent or Gazebo ensure that it is well anchored down as it can become quite windy! Poplar also have a clubhouse for our use with a micro wave and kettle.
GUILDLINES FOR CAMPS FROM POPLAR - PLEASE READ
· Please report any problems or questions you may have to your camp leader who can then liaise with the correct member of the Poplar Park staff to get it resolved.
· There is now a club room at the top of the camp field – there is a kettle, fridge and microwave in there for your use.
· Please use the gate adjacent to the club room to enter and exit the camp field. The gate near the farm house should no longer be used.
· ABSOLUTELY NO HORSES IN THE CAMP FIELD AT ANY TIME – NO EXCEPTIONS. Horses should be unloaded and loaded by the stables (or in the riding school carpark).
· PLEASE TAKE ALL YOUR RUBBISH HOME WITH YOU - The council refuses to give us anymore bins so regrettably we cannot take your rubbish. Should you need it there is Foxhall Household Waste Recycling Centre conveniently located just off the A12: open 9am-5pm. Foxhall Road, Brightwell, Ipswich, IP100HT
· In the interests of bio security PLEASE DO NOT WALK YOUR HORSES THROUGH POPLAR PARK YARDS. There is a track around the outside of the yards that can be used.
· Extra straw is available free of charge – please help yourself. Please keep the straw bale on the main camp yard tied up and the area around it raked and tidy.
· Hay or haylage can be bought from us:
£1 per net for hay, £1.50 per net for haylage – help yourself and just pay the balance at the office before you leave.
· We do not have a tackroom or a feedroom on the main camp yard however you can store your feed undercover in the barn on the yard – please keep both yard gates shut though as we have a free roaming pony who can sniff out tasty treats from a mile away!
· There is a mounting block on the main camp yard.
· Please report any breakages: dressage boards / show jumps / XC fences /stables etc. to us ASAP. You will not be charged but we would like to fix the problem promptlyJ.
· You are welcome to bring dogs but you must keep them on a lead at all times when on our premises including the xc course.
· If your camp exceeds 14 horses then you will have stables of varying sizes – your camp leader will assign stables according to your horse’s height / temperament etc.
· There is no turnout but you are welcome to hand graze your horses. Please do not hand graze in the camping field.
· Should you need them, we can provide you with a map of the area with routes ranging from 16km to 40 km. Ask your camp leader for details.
· There are plenty of toilets and a shower onsite, located in the office block.
· There are 4 hook up points in the camping field. Hook up is charged at £10 per night and you should book this with your camp leader.
· Please leave stables and yards clean and tidy with the beds banked up.
