Show Information

Camp will be at Poplar Park and our trainer will be Jonathan Allinson, there will be 3 days of training:
Friday – Flat work for jumping
Saturday – Cross country schooling
Sunday – Cross country schooling

Arrive at Poplar on the Thursday from midday, set up camp, settle horses etc. On or off site hacking throughout camp, but please do not venture out alone and take a mobile phone! If you want to take advantage of the cross-country jumps ensure that you wear a body protector at all times.

Thursday evening – ‘meet and greet’ please all bring your BBQ’s, food, and drink etc. to a central point in the camp field where we can have a social evening altogether, we will also sort ourselves into training groups. Aim for 7pm.

Friday evening – we will BBQ also.

Saturday evening – we will go to a local pub for dinner – details to be sorted closer to the time.

Children are welcome during the day to watch but must be accompanied by a parent/carer at all times, no children in the evenings. Well behaved dogs are welcome but they must be on leads in all horse areas and when clinics are taking place.

No horses are allowed in the camp field. Do not walk your horse through any other Poplar stable areas.

Take all your rubbish home with you DO NOT PLACE IT IN ANY OF POPLAR’S BINS.
At the end of camp please leave all clean beds up and the yard swept.
When helping yourself to ad-lib straw please re-tie the bale and keep the area around it tidy. Keep yard gates closed at all times. Hand grazing is permitted, but not in the camp field.
Poplar can provide maps of the area for hacking.

Payment Details & Event Fees

Payment for camp must be made at time of entering via My Riding life, refunds for clinics will only be made if we can fill you place. A full refund for stabling costs will be made as Poplar only charge for those who attend. Cost of stable, bedding and facilities at Poplar are £50 per night. Although we usually work on a first come first served basis, priority will be given to members who have supported the club. One horse per member, if numbers allow nearer the date you may be able to bring an additional horse. Please indicate on the form if you need to be next to or near another horse or not.

 

Please Email Sue Aspinell if you require hook up - there are only 4 spaces and it is on a first come first served basis.

Stabling Information: Yes

Stable and straw bedding is included in the cost. Bring short feed and hay. You can buy hay and haylage from Poplar at a cost of £1 or £1.50 per net, settle your bill at the end of camp and pay direct to Poplar. Any other type of bedding must be provided by yourself. It is advisable to bring your own wheel barrow and tools ect.

Bed and breakfast is available, please book directly with Poplar. Horseboxes, tents, caravans etc. in the camp field. Electric hook up is available at £10 per night there are only 4 available, - so is on a first booked first served basis. Please pay Poplar direct for this.

There is a shower for our use free of charge, toilet, and electric sockets. A freezer is usually available for our use and there is a local shop that sells almost everything. Please remember that if you pitch a tent or Gazebo ensure that it is well anchored down as it can become quite windy! Poplar also have a clubhouse for our use with a micro wave and kettle.

GUILDLINES FOR CAMPS FROM POPLAR - PLEASE READ

 

·       Please report any problems or questions you may have to your camp leader who can then liaise with the correct member of the Poplar Park staff to get it resolved.

 

·       There is now a club room at the top of the camp field – there is a kettle, fridge and microwave in there for your use.

 

·       Please use the gate adjacent to the club room to enter and exit the camp field.  The gate near the farm house should no longer be used.

 

·       ABSOLUTELY NO HORSES IN THE CAMP FIELD AT ANY TIME – NO EXCEPTIONS.  Horses should be unloaded and loaded by the stables (or in the riding school carpark).

 

·       PLEASE TAKE ALL YOUR RUBBISH HOME WITH YOU - The council refuses to give us anymore bins so regrettably we cannot take your rubbish.  Should you need it there is Foxhall Household Waste Recycling Centre conveniently located just off the A12: open 9am-5pm.  Foxhall Road, Brightwell, Ipswich, IP100HT 

 

·       In the interests of bio security PLEASE DO NOT WALK YOUR HORSES THROUGH POPLAR PARK YARDS.  There is a track around the outside of the yards that can be used.

 

·       Extra straw is available free of charge – please help yourself.  Please keep the straw bale on the main camp yard tied up and the area around it raked and tidy.

 

·       Hay or haylage can be bought from us:

£1 per net for hay, £1.50 per net for haylage – help yourself and just pay the balance at the office before you leave.

 

·       We do not have a tackroom or a feedroom on the main camp yard however you can store your feed undercover in the barn on the yard – please keep both yard gates shut though as we have a free roaming pony who can sniff out tasty treats from a mile away!

 

·       There is a mounting block on the main camp yard.

 

·       Please report any breakages: dressage boards / show jumps / XC fences /stables etc. to us ASAP.  You will not be charged but we would like to fix the problem promptlyJ.

 

·       You are welcome to bring dogs but you must keep them on a lead at all times when on our premises including the xc course.

 

·       If your camp exceeds 14 horses then you will have stables of varying sizes – your camp leader will assign stables according to your horse’s height / temperament etc.

 

·       There is no turnout but you are welcome to hand graze your horses.  Please do not hand graze in the camping field.

 

·       Should you need them, we can provide you with a map of the area with routes ranging from 16km to 40 km.  Ask your camp leader for details.

 

·       There are plenty of toilets and a shower onsite, located in the office block.

 

·       There are 4 hook up points in the camping field.  Hook up is charged at £10 per night and you should book this with your camp leader.

 

·       Please leave stables and yards clean and tidy with the beds banked up.
