Show Information
From Groundwork to Grand Prix Dressage with Diane Thurman-Baker and her daughters Samantha, Joanna, and their horses

Diane Thurman-Baker is one of the leading Classical Riding Instructors in the UK. Using traditional classical methods, she trains horses and riders to be successful at the highest levels of competition. She took Lucca her own Lusitano Connemara cross to the renowned Golega horse fair in Portugal, winning the piaffe/passage competition. Diane was a member of the first British Working Equitation team.

At 17 Samantha (now 22) was the youngest ever international Grand Prix rider from the UK. She has represented Great Britain in Junior and Young Rider at the Europeans. Samantha worked for one year at Carl Hester’s and competed two of his horses. Her horse Pascal was bought as a 5yr old and Samantha took him to Grand Prix using Diane’s training methods.

17yr old Joanna has represented Great Britain five times and been reserve for the Europeans on many occasions.

You will see a number of Team Thurman-Baker horses in action, including Pascal, and will have opportunity to observe a demonstration of the first stages of groundwork with one of their young horses. You will also learn how to teach your horse to piaffe and passage.

Diane’s classical training approach is of softness and lightness has proven to be a winning formula. Come along to learn how to apply this in your own training and riding.
