Rules:

This competition is run under current British Riding Clubs rules unless superseded by the rules below. The current BRC Handbook and Rule Amendments document can be found on: https://www.bhs.org.uk/british-riding-clubs/brchandbook/

  1. BRC Code of Conduct must be adhered to.

  2. SCHOOLING OVER FENCES IN THE 7 DAYS PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN

    AND WILL BE PENALISED. ANY COMPETITOR FOUND TO HAVE SCHOOLED AT THE VENUE IN THE 7 DAYS PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION WILL INCUR 20 PENTALTIES ADDED TO THEIR SCORE. FURTHER, IF THEY ARE A TEAM MEMBER, THE TEAM WILL INCUR A FURTHER 20 PENALTIES EVEN IF THAT MEMBER IS THE DROP SCORE. THIS IS AN AREA 6 RULE ADDITIONAL TO THE BRC RULES.

Entries:

  1. BRC has introduced a ‘competition pass’ this will take the place of Pre-Entries. To compete and qualify for BRC

    championships, all entrants must have a valid club membership AND a valid competition pass, which can be purchased via the BRC Sport80 portal. Any member competing at a qualifier without both club membership and a competition pass will be disqualified.

  2. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria, the eligibility table can be found here 4030_brchandbook_2026_lr.pdf

  3. Team Managers – Please advise numbers in each class by 30th March 2026 – and full details by 6th April. Close of entries is 2nd April 2026.

  4. Please note eligibility rules that apply for this competition are those in the 2026 handbook.

  5. Horses can only compete in 2 consecutive classes (ie 70 & 80, or 90 & 100)

  2. No refunds after close of entries.

  3. Changes can be made by email until midday 9th April – after that changes can be made on the day to the

    Secretary.

  4. Payments should be made by Bank Transfer to THE HIGH WYCOMBE RIDING CLUB sort code 09-01-51 Account no 75819300.

  5. Start times will be available on Area 6 Facebook by 6pm 8th April 2026 and will also be emailed to Team Managers

Tack & Turnout:

  1. All riding hats must have a visible current BRC/BE/PC pink hat tag

  2. For any event with cross country riders must NOT have a fixed peak on their hat.

  3. body protector is mandatory for this competition. It is a rider’s responsibility to ensure they have a body

    protector with the correct standard. The BETA Level 3 2018 BLUE label is the only standard accepted for BRC

    Events.

  4. Riders wearing Exo-Body cages, in which the BETA Level 3 2009 Purple Label, must inform the official

    steward/organiser before the event.

Health and Safety guidelines:

Flu Vaccinations & Microchips

Your horse must have up to date influenza vaccinations in line with rule G7 in the current BRC Handbook. There is also a downloadable flu vac checking spreadsheet available to check the flu vaccination: BRC Downloads | The British Horse Society (bhs.org.uk) under ‘Competitions’It is the responsibility of the Team Managers to ensure that this is complied with. Random clubs will be asked to present proof of vaccination on the day of the competition.

Withdrawals/Refunds

 REFUNDS ONLY ISSUED after close of enties (27.03.26) IF AN ELIGIBLE RIDER/HORSE COMBINATION PROVIDED 

Terms & Conditions

1. No liability shall fall on the Organisers, Landowners, Judges or Officials in respect of any loss, damage or injury howsoever caused and all competitors are deemed to be liable to indemnify the said persons in respect of any such loss, damage or injury. 2. Every effort will be made to keep to the schedules, but we reserve the right to alter the order and composition of classes or to cancel them. 3. Any competitor may be warned or disqualified for improper or excessive use of whips, spurs etc. or other actions which the Judges or Officials consider warrants such penalty. 4. Correct riding attire must be worn at all times. All riders whether competing or not, must wear the correct headgear with a harness properly adjusted and fastened. Skull caps must be worn with a dark silk. Hats must conform to at least one of: British PAS 015: 2011 provided they are BSI Kitemarked or Inspec IC Marked; VG1 01.040: 2014-12 provided they are BSI Kitemarked or Inspec IC Marked European VG1 01.040: 2014-12 provided they are BSI Kitemarked or Inspec IC Marked American ASTM F1163: 2004a or 04a onwards provided they are SEI marked SNELL E2001 and SNELL E2016 Australian and New Zealand AS/NZS 3838: 2006 onwards provided they are SAI global marked. Failure to wear approved headgear will incur elimination. 5. All horses being ridden on the showground must be 4 years or older. 6. Stallions must be handled and ridden by people who have attained their 14th birthday on the 1st January in the current year. 7. The ruling of the judges is final. All complaints must be put in writing and handed to the secretary with a deposit of £20 within 15 minutes of the incident, returnable if the objection is upheld. 8. Entries may be refused without reason being given. 9. A refund (less admin fee) will be issued on production of a Medical/Veterinary Certificate or at the Secretary’s discretion. 10. Change of horse and/or rider must be notified to the Secretary 15 minutes before the start of the class or the entry will become void. 11. ALL DOGS must be kept on leads (non-extending) at all times. 12. It is the responsibility of competitors to know the rules – our stewards and officials are there to help and advise. Please remember all our helpers are volunteers. 13.
