DRESSAGE RULES FOR PONY CLUB QUALIFYING CLASSES Commanders: Novice/Intermediate/Open - commanders are not permitted at Area Competitions or the Championships. Grassroots PC80 - commanders are permitted at Area competitions but not at the Championships. Preliminary PC70 - commanders are permitted at Area Competitions and at the Championships. https://pcuk.uk/officials/equality-diversity/reasonable-adjustment/ Commanders are permitted for warm-up classes if run. ELIGIBILITY: Preliminary PC70: Riders in this class must be aged 13 years and under on 1st January 2025, even if the area competition is in in 2026. Combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: - Competed at Novice Area level or above summer competition in Dressage or Eventing in the current year or have done so in previous years.
- Competed above Prelim level with British Dressage (or DI) or at BD Novice Team/My Quest.
- Been placed 1st -4th on more than two occasions at a previous Preliminary PC70 Regional Championships.
Grassroots PC80: A combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: - Competed at Intermediate level or above Summer Competition in dressage or eventing in the current year or have done so in previous years.
- Completed above Prelim level with British Dressage or at BD Novice /My Team Quest
Novice: A combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: - Competed at an Open level or above summer competition in Dressage in the current year or have done so in previous years.
- Won any BD points (BD Preliminary points do not count for the purposes of this rule)
- Competed at BD Elementary level or above (BD Team/My Quest competitions do not count for the purpose of this rule)
- Competed in BD Novice Music classes.
Intermediate: A combination of horse/pony and rider are NOT eligible if they have: - Won any BD points at Elementary level or above.
- Competed at BD Medium level or above (BD Team/My Quest competitions do not count for the purpose of this rule)
Open: Open to all members of The Pony Club. TEAM SCORING - Points shall be awarded to each team competitor depending on their placing (1st =1 point, 2nd = 2 points, etc.) relative only to other team competitors in that class and not on their overall placing in that class.
- Any competitors riding as an individual in the same class as team competitors should not be given points.
- The points for the three team members shall be added together to give the team score. The winning team will be the team with the least points.

The canteen will be open serving hot and cold food, drinks and snacks.
- All competitions are pre-entry only, no refund or transfer is possible after initial close of entries date as published on the schedule.
- All withdrawals to be made via e-mail please.
- The booking fee is non-refundable in all cases.
- For withdrawals before the published closing date refunds of the Entry Cost can be made less £3.00 Admin Fee alternatively, we can offer a free transfer to another event.
- No refunds or transfers can be made during the late entry period unless we are able to replace it from a wait list.
- Please see relevant rule books for additional policies in place for British Dressage, British Show Jumping and British Eventing.
Abandonment Policy In the case of abandonment of a competition for any reason we will offer a free transfer towards an alternative competition – or a refund minus a £3.00 admin fee. The booking fee is non-refundable in all cases.
- All entries and payments to be made online.
- ALL horses must not be under current investigation for infectious diseases including, for example, Equine Herpes Virus (EHV), Equine Influenza, Strangles.
- All Horses must not have been in contact with and is not kept on the same premises as a horse known to have or be under investigation for the neurological form of EHV, Equine Influenza, Strangles or Equine Viral Arteritis.
- All activity will be in accordance with the advice from the relevant national body.
- HORSES/PONIES MUST NOT BE LEFT TIED UP OUTSIDE UNATTENDED.
- Please do not park in front of or block access to the loading bay.
- PLEASE PRINT/MAKE YOUR OWN ALLOCATED RIDER NUMBER OR USE YOUR NUMBER DISKS. NUMBERS WILL BE ALLOCATED WITH TIMES. THIS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES AND MUST BE EASILY READABLE.
- NO spectators or filming are allowed in any of the warm-up or competition arenas. Please use viewing areas.
- Warm up time may be limited by numbers allowed in arena to an estimated 30 – 40 minutes.
- You are expected to ride on your allocated times. If you do not do so, you risk being unable to compete.
- DRESSAGE SHEETS - Please email us for a copy or leave an A5 Large Letter Stamped Addressed HARD BACKED Envelope for rosettes or an ordinary SAE for dressage sheets only.
- PLEASE CLEAR UP ANY DROPPINGS OR HAY IN THE LORRY PARK.
- Dogs are allowed but MUST be kept on a short lead at all times. No Exceptions.
- Although every effort will be made to ensure the safety of participants, horse riding is a very high-risk sport and therefore, West Wilts Equestrian Centre and its staff cannot accept responsibility for any accident, damage or injury to horses, owners or other persons or property.
