General Rules for Riders and Spectators
DEFRA may require competitors to produce their horse passport at any time.
The Grange insists that hard hats which conform to a minimum BSI standard MUST be worn, correctly fastened, by any person who is mounted whilst on the showground. Any handler under 16 should wear a current correctly fitted standard hat in the ring.
All competitors are recommended to have 3rd party insurance.
Hats to current British Safety Standard must be worn when mounted. Back protectors are advised.
All vehicles parked at owners' risk. No unauthorised vehicles on main show field.
Dogs must be kept on leads at all times & dog poo to be cleared up by the owner and taken home.
No mucking out of lorries or trailers is allowed in the lorry park please take it home with you.
The committee reserve the right to refuse any entry to protect the welfare of any horse/pony.
The committee reserve the right to limit entries to control class sizes. Classes may b cancelled or amalgamated if insufficient entries
All competitors, horses and ponies must be correctly dressed for their classes.
Practising in any ring will lead to disqualification from the day's events unless it's a designated warming up area.
No artificial aids for example side /draw reins.
Horse to rider ratio. We take horse welfare seriously, size and proportionality is an important consideration to ensure the horse/pony is suitably mounted and achieve a
of its healthy body weight, this includes the weight of clothing, boots, hat and tack.
The health, fitness, workload, age of the horse/pony and rider fitness, balance and ability will all have an impact, lowering the % of total weight to be carried. The focus of this guidance is equine welfare rather than rider weight.
We support our judges decision with regards to all aspects of horse/pony welfare.
Any misuse/abuse of whips/spurs at any event will result in expulsion from the venue.
All combination , Lead Rein and First Ridden classes must be ridden in a snaffle bridle with cavesson noseband only. Lead reins must be attached ONLY to the noseband.
Any complaints must be registered at the entries caravan and accompanied by a deposit of £10 refundable only if the complaint is upheld after consideration by a minimum of 3 committee members.
Well behaved Stallions / Colts are welcome in bitted bridles but may be asked to leave if they are causing disruption to other competitors and only handled by over 16’s only.
Ridden horses must be 4 years of age or over on day of show.
Minimum age of 4 years old for a rider (age on the day of the show.)
The judge's decision is always final.
No horses to be left unattended and tied to the outside of their lorry/trailer
No Horses to be left in their lorry/trailer overnight
No responsibility can be taken by the organisers for any accident or damage to competitors, attendants, animals, spectators, or their property, or vehicles of any description. By entering this competition, the exhibitor of any horse or pony accepts that The Grange Equestrian Centre , the organiser or any of the officers of the show will not be held responsible or accountable for anything that may happen from any cause or circumstance whatsoever to any persons, exhibitors or their servants or to any animal or article or property brought into the show ground.
