Foal registration will take place at the annual show on Saturday or early Sunday morning.

All mares taking part in the mare performance test must be studbook inspected. For mares that have not previously been studbook inspected, this will take place in the ring prior to the commencement of their loose jumping.

Open to Hanoverian, Rhineland and British Warmblood registered horses. We accept other breeds into the Studbook, please email bhhsuk@gmail.com to see if your mare is eligible. Open to mares 3 years old and over with approved pedigrees for entry into the studbooks of the BHHS, including Thoroughbred mares. All mares that are to be used for breeding must be entered into the studbook if the foals are to eligible for BHHS papers.
All mares three years old and over must be studbook inspected prior to their participation in any of the show classes. Studbook inspection is held early in the day of the show classes to facilitate this.

The Part-Bred classes are open to horses that are by an approved Hanoverian, Rhineland and British Warmblood and that are eligible for part-bred papers.
Do not forget, the part-bred classes are open to non-members.

Payment Details & Event Fees

Entries in advance only. You can book using our Secure Online Entry System.
Payment is secure and it goes directly to BHHS.
You will receive an email confirmation of your booking and payment.

Postal Entries: Please check you have enclosed the correct payment (made payable to the BHHS) and a copy of the mare’s pedigree for studbook inspection.

Runners are available - £20 per Horse. Please select and add to your basket before checking out. These must be booked and paid in advance.

Adverts for the show catalogue are £50 per A5 page and £25 for each half A4 page. Please send any text, photographs or artwork to sueksimmons@gmail.com. Payment can be made online with entries.

Special Classes

There will be a Youngstock Championship, a Mare Championship and a Supreme Championship.
The ALAN ACKEHURST CUP to the Champion Mare.
The VERBAND TROPHY to the Best British Bred Mare.
The WONDERFUL LADY SHIELD to the best Handler presented by KERSTIN BOMKE.
The WELTIRA TROPHY to the Breeder of the Best British Bred Mare.
Some classes may be amalgamated depending on entries.

Terms & Conditions

t1. The decision of the judges is final.
2. Competitors, spectators and officials attend this show at their own risk. No responsibility will be accepted for any theft, damage, illness, accident injury or loss to any person, or their property. It is a condition of entry that competitors shall indemnify the organisers against any legal action.
3. Only snaffle bridles or headcollars will be permitted in the show ring except for stallions and invited ridden progeny.
4. Receipt of entries will only be given if accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope.
5. Challenge trophies must be signed for by winners at the Show Secretary’s office before being removed from the showground, and must be returned one month before the next show to the Studbook Manager. In the event of loss or damage to challenge trophies, costs shall be met by the winners of such trophies.
6. All exhibitors are required to wear appropriate dress when showing. The dress code is: Continental showing dress - Black or white trousers - black, white or Hanoverian yellow tops. Riders are required to wear show jackets and a hard hat.
7. Children under 16 years are not allowed in the show ring.
8. Entry monies will only be refunded if a veterinary surgeon or doctors certificate is produced within seven days.
9. Three year old and older mares currently graded and registered with the BHHS and British Warmbloods are eligible for showing, as are registered yearling and two year old fillies. Only 1st & 2nd placed mares from class 6 to 11 are eligible for the championship. Geldings are allowed in ridden and part bred classes only.
10. The ‘Breeder’ is defined as the owner of the mare at the time of conception of the foal.
11. It is a condition of entry that competitors agree to abide by the rules and conditions of entry listed above.
