FORMAT OF COMPETITION
Competitors will jump a course of show jumping fences followed immediately by a course of cross country style fences. Ther will be no more than 20 jumping efforts in total.
The winner will be the competitor with the lowest number of penalties. In the event of a tie, the winner will be the one nearest to the optimum time.
Optimum time based on a speed of 325 mpm ( PC80 and below) / 375 mpm ( PC90 and above)
PENALTIES
SJ Phase
Knock down obstacle - 4 penalties
1st disobedience of horse - 4 penalties
2nd disobedience of horse in whole course - 8 penalties
3rd disobedience of horse in whole course - Elimination * ( each circle/ crossing of tracks counts as one disobedience)
Fall of rider and/or horse - Elimination*
Error of course not rectified - Elimination *
Failure to start or jump next fence within 60 secs -Elimination *
Starting before bell - Elimiantion *
Continuing with no hat or chinstrap undone - Elimination *
* Competitors eliminated in this phase may not contnue to XC phase
XC Phase
Knocking down an obstacle - 4 penalties
1st refusal/run out / circle at obstacle - 20 penalties
2nd refusal/run out/circle at same obstacle - 40 penalties
3rd refusal/run out/circle at same obstacle - Elimination
4 refusals around course - Elimination
Fall of horse and/or rider - Elimination
Horse trapped in obstacle - Elimination
Error of course not recified - Elimination
Horse resisting rider for 60 consecutive seconds
anywhere on course - Elimination
Failure to cross finish mounted - Elimination
Time will be taken overall
For every commenced second in excess of the optimum time - 0.4 penalty
For every commenced second in excess of 5 seconds below optimum time - 0.4 penalty
Exceeding the time limit - Elimination
The time limit is twice the optimum time
RULES
1 The Judge's decision is final
2 The Organisers reserve the right to refuse an entry, restrict entries and make alterations to entries it they deem necessary.
3 Hats must be worn, with chin strap fastened at all times when mounted. Body protectors are COMPULSORY. Hats and body protectors must be presented to the steward to ensure they are compliant with PC Rules 2021 ( current standards) which can be found on pcuk.org/ Rules. Please contact organisers if any queries (Body protectors - minimum 2009 BETA Level 3)
4 No jewellery/ piercings to be worn
5 Please park as directed by stewards, no cars in lorry park. No unattended horses to be left tied to trailers/lorries. Please clear up all hay/droppings/litter and do not muck out into lorry park.
6 No dogs allowed
7 Only 8 horses in warm up arena at any one time.
8 Health & Safety - the Organisers have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers, officials and stewards
