MKRC Evening Dressage – 11th August 2020 – Covid-19
We’re very excited to be able to welcome you back to our evening dressage competitions!
To make sure we’re able to run these events safely, we’ve had to put in a number of additional measures – we’ve detailed these below along with details of how the evening will run. We’re sorry that some of these measures may mean that we can’t be quite as social as normal, and that unfortunately that some of you may not be able to compete at this time. Hopefully as time goes on we will be able to relax some of these measures, but for now we have to do everything we can to keep you all safe
It is your responsibility as a competitor to adhere to our guidance below and to all current government guidance in relation to Covid 19. Where anyone is deliberately ignoring or breaking these rules, or acting unsafely, we will have no option to ask you to leave site, and disqualify you from the competition
Please DO NOT attend if you or any member of your household is showing symptoms of Covid-19. You will be fully refunded if you cannot attend due to Covid-19.
Please spend the minimum amount of time possible on site. This means arriving with enough time to tack up and warm up, then once you have ridden please head home as soon as reasonably possible. If you are riding multiple tests we will arrange times closer together to accommodate this. We may need to change the order of the classes to accommodate this.
Please wash your hands and/or use hand sanitiser regularly
Entries
· Online entries in advance only via the MKRC website / My Riding Life. Spaces may be limited and will be first come first served. Entries will close at midnight on Wednesday 5th August, or before if full
· Times will be available online at least 48 hours before the event
· We need to have full details of everyone attending, in case there is a need for contact tracing to take place after the event – you will all be asked to provide name, address and contact number of all people attending when booking – this includes those that are helping you. Without this we will not be able to let you compete. This will be checked when you arrive on site to make sure we have full details of everyone attending. If the details of those attending with you changes, please let us know as soon as possible, and before the day of the event
· Please limit the number of people coming with you – as per current guidance this should be the rider plus a maximum of 1 helper per horse. In line with government guidance, at the time of writing this must be someone from your own household, as it will be impossible to maintain social distancing when helping
Arrival/On-site
· Please keep at least 2m distance between you and anyone not from your household, wherever possible
· Please park sensibly, leave plenty of room between you and the next vehicle, but also please try to leave room so that others can park safely too
· Please do not share equipment, eg. Tack, buckets etc
· You do not need to check in with the secretary when you arrive – we won’t have a specific secretary’s area set up. Please wear your own bridle or saddle number (if you don’t have one don’t worry, just let the judge know your name and number when you enter the arena, before starting your test). Our steward will keep track of who is warming up and let you know when it is your turn
· Please consider whether you really need to bring your dog with you. If you do, please take extra care to make sure they do not get loose. Whilst the risk of transmission from touching animals, such as dogs, is low, we need to reduce the risk as much as possible
· Toilets will be open
· No refreshments will be available, please bring your own if required
· MKRC officials will be wearing hi-vis / tabards to help you identify us – please ask one of us if you have any questions
Competing
· We will be limiting numbers in the warm-up area to a maximum of 5 horses. This should allow you at least 20 minutes to warm up your horse prior to your test – if you need longer why not have a quick walk hack first
· Dress code is smart (Show jackets etc) – but if you don’t have something don’t worry, just wear what you have! It is up to you if you want to plait - it's nice to look smart, but it's not compulsory.
· You are allowed a caller – this should ideally be the person who has come with you to help with the horse
· Please don’t touch the gates or doors into the arena – we will have a dedicated person to do this for you
· Please only spectate for the person you are with, and please avoid using the viewing gallery
Results
· We will not be handing out any rosettes or score sheets on the day. This is to prevent gatherings of people, and prevent the need for you to stay on site longer than necessary. It also reduces the number of people needing to touch paperwork etc. Scores will be updated online on My Riding Life during the evening. Rosettes and score sheets will be posted/emailed to you as soon as possible after the event
Thank you for helping us to make this event a success!
