red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail), mare or gelding 4 years old or over,
exceeding 148cm. Not to have won a total of £200, excluding championship prize money,
(or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated Working Hunter Class, or
more than 5 BE points or 200 BS points, at home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in
the relevant year. Fences in Novice Working Hunter classes should have a minimum height
of 0.85m (2’9”) and a maximum height of 1.00m (3’3 A rider can ride up to two horses in the
jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the ride and
conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed).

not to have won a total of £400, excluding championship prize money, (or equivalent values)
in prize money in any Working Hunter class, or more than 25 BE points or 400 BS points at
home or equivalent abroad before 1st January in the relevant year. Maximum height of
fences 3’6” (1.07m). A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must
select only one horse to take forward into the ride and conformation section if so required
(no change of rider is allowed).

SHB (GB) Open Working Hunter
Info:
SHB (GB) RIHS OPEN WORKING HUNTER - Stallion (competing stallions must have a
red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail), mare or gelding four years old and over
exceeding 148cm (14.2hh approx.) to be judged in accordance with the rules herein set out.
Grade A Showjumpers and Advanced Event horses are not eligible to compete in these
Classes. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event
Horse as at 1st January in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter
classes. Fences to be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 in number and a maximum
height of 1.14m (3ft 9ins) at the discretion of the Judges. No change of rider or tack will be
allowed (unless a horse is ridden under side-saddle, in which case, in order to allow the
judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only). A rider can ride up to
two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward into the
ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). A skull cap or
hat and safety harness according to the current approved BSI or European Standard must
be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping phase of Working Hunter Classes.
No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collecting ring, warm up or
in the actual class.

RIHS qualifiers for Hacks, Cobs & Riding Horses, Hunters, Working Hunters,
Piebalds & Skewbalds.
1. All bookings of the centre, once confirmed, are liable to a 50% cancellation fee should they be moved
or cancelled. Cancellation of a full day without 3 months written notice, or a part day without a weeks’
notice will make the total fee due.
2. The College EC reserve the right to cancel, add to or amend any of the Competitions as they see fit due
to weather conditions etc.
3. The ability to tie up horses to the outside of boxes is a privilege not a right. This practice WILL BE
BANNED if horses continue to be left unattended or are allowed to dig up the lorry park surface. No
horses to be tied to buildings or fencing. No haynets outside horseboxes
4. Once an entry has been made, withdrawal will entail forfeiture of that fee. Fees will be liable
immediately for any telephone / fax or e-mailed entry made after the closing date. Non declaration
does not remove the requirement to pay the entry fee due
5. All unaffiliated events are run under the guidance of affiliated rules-BSJA, BD, or BE.
6. The decision of the judge is final.
7. Neither The College Equestrian Centre, not any of its representative or staff shall be held liable for any
accident, injury or damage or loss whatsoever, howsoever caused to any person animal or property at
any time.
8. Please dispose of your litter thoughtfully in bins provided.
9. Please do not muck out into car parks.
10. Please ask organizers before riding on grass. Any lunging is by prior permission only and is never
permitted indoors or outdoors. You are politely requested to pick up all droppings on arenas after
your animal. Any damage to any property owned or hired or rented by or from The College EC apart
from normal wear and tear will be paid for at cost at the time of damage
11. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas and prohibited around the stable block or in arenas.
12. All dogs must be kept on leads. Dogs are not permitted on the veranda. If dog owners do not clean
up their own dog’s mess, this privilege will be removed. No dogs in arenas.
13. All horse and ponies must only move through areas shared with pedestrians at walk.
14. No competitor / rider shall allow a stallion for which they are responsible as owner, lessee, authorised
agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any competition without taking adequate
precautions to ensure competitors, officials or other members of the public are not put at risk of injury
15. The College EC reserves the right to refuse entry to class and show ground.
16. Children must be under adult supervision at all times
17. Correctly secured Skull Caps / Riding Hats Nos. PAS015, (BS) EN1384-20, BSEN 1384, VGI, ASTMF1163
(2004) with SEI mark, SNELL E2001, Australian & New Zealand All AS/NZS 3838 1998 MUST be worn by
riders at all times when mounted.
18. The College EC reserves the right to restrict prizes to one for every five entries, in accordance with BSJA
Rule 76 (6)
19. Formal objections must be made within 30 minutes of event, accompanied by a deposit of £25,
forfeited if the objection is overruled. Constructive criticism is welcomed.
20. Entry constitutes an agreement to be bound by and abide by these Rules.
21. We required payment in advance for each clinic (this minimizes our administration costs and therefore
clinic prices). No space will be held without appropriate fee Payment will only be refunded on
production of a vet/Doctor’s certificate, providing reasonable notice is given, and the place can be reallocated. If a clinic place cannot be re-allocated, payment in full must be made. Total fee can be
transferred (once) to another clinic. No monies will be refunded for cancellations within 48 hrs. of
event. Every effort will be made to offer your place if a waiting list exists
22. Clinic times will be available 48 hours before the clinic by calling 01234 708400.
23. Please make cheques payable to “The College EC”, or call with credit card details
24. Only riders, who have paid to enter a competition/clinic on that day may ride on the property owned
by The College EC, unless permission is previously requested. The competition number worn must be
applicable to the rider/horse combination that has paid an entry fee.
