A one day intensive development camp, open to all riders competing at all levels with a focus on developing your psychological skills to improve peak performance in competitions, understanding what the judge is looking for when you ride your test and why you get the scores you do, preparing yourself mentally for your competition test. This is the second camp in a series of rider development days.
Over the course of the day you will take part in:
· Morning welcome and briefing of the day ahead
· A session with Dr Moira Lafferty - Moira is a chartered psychologist, associate fellow of the British Psychological Society and HCPC registered sport and exercise psychologist. Her research interests in sport and exercise psychology centre specifically on the role of psychological skills in peak performance
· A session with List 2 judge Jane Critchley - Have you ever wondered what the judge is thinking as you ride up the centre line? What exactly are they looking for and how can you make sense of the scoring? The marks aren’t awarded at random, there’s method behind the madness and sometimes all it takes is a greater understanding of what judges prioritise. How can you use your knowledge of the scales of training in your warm-up, create and maintain a correct way of going, and earn yourself some valuable marks.
· Run through a test of your choice under full competition conditions with Jane Critchley, BD accredited UKCC L3 dressage coach and currently part of the National Development program for Coaching.
· A one to one post-test video analysis feedback session with Jo Swain BD UKCC level 4 coach, List 5 judge, BD Youth assessor, judge and Para Coach and Dr Moira Lafferty.
· Followed by an end of day informal feedback and reflection session with Jo and Felicity
The day will cost £95.00 per person to include day stables including bedding, a buffet lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Strictly limited to only 14 places.
